Inflatable bypass pipe plug – temporary sewer bypass solution
Temporary wastewater diversion made simple
When a pipeline is damaged or undergoing repairs, maintaining network continuity is crucial. The inflatable bypass pipe plug allows you to temporarily divert wastewater flow from a defective section to an operational one — without interrupting service or disrupting the rest of the system.
Thanks to its integrated bypass channel, the plug maintains flow continuity even when the pipeline is physically sealed.
This makes it the ideal solution for emergency maintenance and repair operations on public or private sewer networks.
Safe repairs on manholes and pipelines
Whether you’re renovating an inspection chamber, replacing a cracked pipe, or working on a connection joint, the bypass plug allows you to operate safely, without back pressure from upstream flow. At the same time, it maintains fluid passage through the integrated bypass line, ensuring seamless network operation during maintenance.
This system can also be used to isolate an inspection chamber on both sides while keeping the rest of the network fully functional.
Leak tightness and pressure testing applications
The bypass pipe plug can also be used to perform both air and water tightness tests, including :
- Air tests (ISO 9962) — rapid leak detection in dry networks.

- Water load tests — pressure verification under real hydraulic conditions.

Fluotracking offers models equipped with single or double bypass adapters, depending on the testing protocol you need to perform.
Why choose a Fluotracking bypass plug ?
A robust, reliable, and versatile tool
Engineered to meet the demands of on-site professionals, every Fluotracking inflatable bypass plug is made from high-performance materials resistant to chemicals, abrasion, and mechanical stress. Its HDPE (high-density polyethylene) central core provides solid structural integrity, while EPDM rubber seals ensure long-lasting durability even in aggressive environments.
Wide diameter range for all pipe networks
Our product range covers pipe diameters from 70 mm to 2000 mm, with pressure ratings adapted to each size. Whether you work on domestic systems, municipal networks, or industrial lines, you’ll find the perfectly dimensioned model for your application.
Designed for wet or dry conditions
Fluotracking bypass plugs are built to perform under real-world site conditions, including :
- Dry or partially charged networks

- Horizontal or vertical pipelines

- Deep, narrow, or hard-to-access installations

Technical description of the inflatable bypass plug
Design and materials
- High-resistance inflatable membrane (EPDM or NBR, depending on model)

- HDPE central core supporting continuous fluid passage

- Integrated bypass system (single or dual outlet configuration)

- Secure connection points for attaching bypass hoses (via bolts or special adapters)

Every component is engineered for rapid installation and optimal sealing performance, even in wet, muddy, or contaminated environments.
How the bypass system works
Once inserted into the pipeline, the plug is inflated to fully seal the section. The integrated bypass channel then transfers the flow through a connected hose, ensuring continuity of service. Two configurations are available :
- Single bypass (built into the HDPE core): ideal for basic diversions or air tests.

- Double bypass adapter: designed for water tests or complex flow management.

Technical advantages of the Fluotracking bypass plug
- Ensures continuous flow during repairs or pressure tests

- Compatible with air and water leak testing procedures

- Durable, chemical-resistant construction (EPDM, NBR, HDPE)

- Quick installation and safe operation in confined or flooded areas

- Designed for repeated professional use
